Logic Beach offers a line of AC current sensing switches in split-core packages for use in detecting when an AC current exceeds some pre-set current threshold. These transducers are perfect for detecting when a machine, fan, blower, pump, motor or other load is ON for duty-cycle and/or run-time studies. Also valuable for detecting over-current conditions and general troubleshooting.
The devices are self-powered and provide a ‘solid-state’ switched output (effectivley an electronic switch) that turns ON (shorts) when the pre-set current threshold is exceeded. The transducer can readily interface to any of our data loggers via one of the Event or Counter digital inputs.
Three Current Switch models are offered with various threshold ranges and output switching capability. For applications requiring switch thresholds lower than specified, multiple conductor loops can be passed through the split-core aperture for increased sensitivity.
For applications requiring current switch thresholds higher than specified, the transducers can be used with industry standard 5Aac FS output current transformers. Note: If 5Aac CT’s are employed with this unit, the CT’s must be installed properly or damage and/or injury can result. Refer to installation instructions for details.
All models are split-core design so that they can be installed without interrupting the circuit, and they are available in three opening sizes.
