Current Transformers

Current transformers (CT’s) sense the AC current flow in a conductor and output a 0 to 333mVac voltage corresponding to the sensed AC current. CT’s are required to sense the current flow in AC conductors for the various models of Electrical Meters offered by Logic Beach (WNB-P, WNC-MB, PS3037 and PS24).

CT’s are available with various physical configurations, aperture (window) openings, Full Scale current ratings, and accuracy specifications. Split-core CT’s (vs Solid Core) can be opened to allow installation onto installed conductors.

The following offering of Split-Core, Rowgowski Coil “Rope” and Solid-Core CT’s are all compatible with the electrical meters offered by Logic Beach for use in your electrical parameter data acquisition applications.

Current Transformer ACT 0750

ACTL-0750 Split-Core CT’s

The ACTL-0750 split-core current transformers have a 0.75″ square aperture and are available in full scale current ranges from 5 to 250Aac. They offer outstanding linearity and very low phase angle error with easy one-handed opening and closing, even wearing gloves. The ACTL family are UL Listed CTs and meet the safety requirements of UL 2808 (XOBA). The ACTL-0750 is offered in two accuracy grades, Standard (1%) and Revenue (0.6%).

Current Transformer ACT 1250

ACTL-1250 Split-Core CT’s

The ACTL-1250 split-core current transformers have a 1.25″ square aperture and are available in full scale current ranges of 250, 400 and 600Aac. They offer outstanding linearity and very low phase angle error with easy one-handed opening and closing, even wearing gloves. The ACTL family are UL Listed CTs and meet the safety requirements of UL 2808 (XOBA). The ACTL-0750 is offered in three accuracy grades, Standard (0.1%), Revenue (0.6%) and Revenue (0.3%).

Current Transformer CTML

CTML Mini Split-Core CT’s

CTML series of mini split-core current transformers (CTs) are ideal for monitoring branch circuits and equipment loads in situations where space is limited. The CTML has an easy to open hinged design that locks closed with a click. The 0.35 inch square window opening can fits one #3 AWG THHN conductor or up to four #12 AWG conductors depending on insulation thickness. The CTML Mini is available in 5, 20, 50 and 70Aac Full Scale ranges. All parts are 1% accuracy.

Current Transformer CTS

CTS Split-Core CT’s

The CTS split-core CT’s are available in 0.75, 1.25 and 2.00 square apertures. They are offered in up to 1500Aac full scale rating.

The CTS is offered in 1% accuracy grade. Note: For applications requiring 600Aac or less, it is recommended to use the ACTL family of CT’s offered above.

Current Transformer CTB

CTB Bus Bar Split-Core CT’s

The CTB series CTs are designed for higher currents (up to 6000 amps) and larger conductors, including bus bars. They are available in a wider range of shapes and sizes including five stock models and almost unlimited custom variations. They have a removable section, so that they can be installed without interrupting the circuit.

The CTS is offered in 1.5% accuracy grade.

Current Transformer RoCoil

RoCoil Rowgowski Coil Rope CT’s

The RoCoil mV Flexible Current Transformers have been designed for accurate measurement of AC current with a safe, millivolt output. The flexible “rope” type CT is available in four lengths: 16″, 24″, 36″, and 72″ and four full scale currents, 1000Aac, 2000Aac, 3000Aac and 6000Aac. Accuracy is rated at 1% typical. These CT’s require an external nominal 5-24Vdc power source.

Current Transformer CTT

CTT Solid-Core CT’s

The CTT solid-core current transformers are available in five aperture sizes ranging from 0.3″ to 1.25″ diameter. Full scale currents from 5Aac to 400Aac are supported. Solid CT’s require physical installation of the conductor through the CT and are commonly installed for permanent applications.

CTT CT’s have typical accuracy better than 1%.
