Overview
The ML-300 is an expanded
feature model of the ModuLoggerT and ModuLogger "Mini" portable
data logging system. The ML-300 consists of a standard ModuLogger
or ModuLogger "Mini" mounted into a rugged NEMA 4x enclosure
with any number of optional balance of system components. With
the flexibility packaging, the ML-300 lends itself well to End
Users as well as System Integrators that require flexibility
in their data collection and alarming platform, but don't have
the time or budget to design and develop a system from scratch.
"Off the shelf" optional features can be integrated into the
ML-300 by Logic Beach including:
- Rechargeable
batteries
- Battery charge
controller
- Sensor and/or
loop power supplies
- Cell Phone
communications
- Transducers
Housed in a rugged, lockable, NEMA 4X
enclosure, the ML-300 is designed for portable, plant floor,
and long-term outdoor remote data collection applications. A
large wiring compartment is provided for I/O wiring and routing
to connections. Wiring access holes are provided in the base
with gland type, liquid tight fittings. Wall mounting tabs and
full installation and operation instructions are included.
The ML-300 can be ordered in configurations
ranging from simple to full featured. The simplest system would
merely consist of a standard ModuLogger mounted into the enclosure.
More complex systems might incorporate all of the above noted
optional features and additional sensors as specified by the
application.
Components
A typical ready-to-deploy
ML-300 system includes a powerful ModuLoggerT or ModuLoggerT
"Mini" Portable Data Logger System Base and an assortment of
User specified standard ModuLogger Interface Modules layers
which can add additional channel I/O, modem capability, PCMCIA
transportable memory cards and more. The Logic Beach HyperWareT
WindowsT based software is used for configuration of the logger,
data downloads, real-time trending of data as well as data display
and data file conversion. Please refer to the data sheets for
the desired data logging system.
Options
A variety of "off-the-shelf"
option components are available for inclusion into the ML-300.
Following is a listing of the standard options. Contact the
factory for help with sytem configuration.
Rechargeable
Batteries
The batteries are sealed, allowing for
omnidirectional orientation of the ML-300. The batteries are rechargeable
and can be recharged from various sources ranging from the Logic
Beach 120Vac gel-cell charger, to photovoltaic panels and/or wind
power via an integral ML-300 charge controller option or an external
source and charge controller. These batteries are typically utilized
to provide power for various data logging applications including:
data logger, sensors, cell phone, and RF modem.

| SRB-1 |
Single 12Vdc, 12AH (25 deg
C, 20 hour discharge rate) sealed "gel-cell" type battery.
Battery is mounted under hinged front aluminum panel which
contains terminal strips for wiring of sensors and other components.
Battery and associated wiring is protected via integral panel
mount, easy access fuse and holder. [ Photo].
Two batteries may be ordered to provide
24 AH @ 12 VDC or 12 AH @ 24 VDC. Specify voltage required.

| CHGR-1 |
Door mounted 6A charge controller
for regulation of battery charging current from an external
source such as photovoltaics and/or wind. |
| CHGR-12500A |
Grid powered battery charger.
120Vac powered charger for 12Vdc sealed gel-cells. 500mA max
charging current. Can recharge a single 12Vdc, 12AH sealed battery
(above) in apx 24 hours. Supplied as stand-alone unit with cord
and plug for use in recharging batteries in an indoor or protected
environment. [ Photo ] |
| CHGR-12/24 |
Grid powered charger. 120 VAC
powered charger for 12 or 24 VDC sealed gel-cells. 12 VDC @
2A, 24 VDC @ 1A. Specify desired voltage. |
| NOTE: Batteries add considerable weight to
the ML-300. Appropriate handling and mounting considerations
should be taken. AH capacities are based on 20 hour discharge
rates at controlled temperature (20C). In most applications,
it is prudent to derate this value. Battery performance curves
are available by contacting Logic
Beach. |

Sensor
Excitation Power Supply Module
For applications requiring sensor or loop
power/excitation greater than the ModuLogger's internal 5VDC source,
the door-mounted PSM-2 can provide 5, 10, 15, or 24VDC excitation voltages
stepped up from the ModuLogger system batteries (6 D-cells) or from
the rechargeable batteries.

Cellular Telephone Communications
The ML-300 portable data logging system can be equipped with
an optional Cellular Phone interface allowing turn-key wireless
cellular telephone communication. The system uses the standard
nationwide analog cellular telephone network and allows for all
of the serial communication functionality offered via the other
standard serial communication methods for the ML-300 system (RS-232,
Ethernet, wire modem, etc.)
The turn-key ML-300 Cellular Phone System is ready to deploy
in applications where phone lines are difficult to access
or expensive to install. The cell phone equipped ML-300
system is ready to receive incoming calls from a PC as well
as provide call-out capability.
Cell Phone Options are available for
the ML-300 System
CP-1M - Continuous Power Cell Phone -
the cellular components (and optionally the other components in the
ML-300) are powered by the utility grid or a power source external
to the ML-300 (such as a vehicle battery) and have continuous power.
Continuous
Power Cell Phone
The continuous power option
utilizes 120Vac utility grid power or some other unlimited power source
to power the cellular phone components. With this system, the cellular
phone and associated circuitry is continually powered and is always
available for communication. In a utility grid-powered application,
an external 120Vac/240Vac power supply is utilized to provide a nominal
12Vdc supply to the ML-300 and the associated cellular phone components.
